A serverless cluster can have up to 2 collections. If you have reached the upper limit and need to create more collections, please migrate to a dedicated cluster.
The number of collections allowed in a dedicated cluster varies with the cluster CU size. For clusters with 8 CUs or less, you can create a maximum of 32 collections. For clusters with more than 8 CUs, you can create a maximum of 256 collections. For more information about the limits, please see Create Collection.
If you have reached the maximum number of collections allowed in a cluster, you can:
- Scale your cluster to larger CU sizes. See Manage Cluster.
- Drop unused collections.
- Try creating partitions instead of collections.
In Zilliz Cloud, a collection can support up to 64 partitions. If you have reached the maximum number of partitions allowed, you can try dropping unused partitions.
